Postdoctoral Research Fellow –
Cardiovascular Stem Cell Biology

A postdoctoral position
is available in the newly opened laboratory of Dr. Sang-Ging Ong in the
Department of Pharmacology an d the Center for Stem Cell an d Regenerative
Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Using mouse models, patients’ samples, an d hiPSC
models, the Ong lab seeks to understand the molecular
and biological mechanisms underlying various cardiovascular diseases through cellular,
genetic, an d biochemical approaches. We are particularly interested in
cardiometabolic diseases with a focus on mitochondrial biology. Additional
research areas include cardioprotection strategies against ischemic damage
including cell & gene therapy, microRNAs, an d exosomes. More details can be found here: https://www.onglab.org/
Qualifications: Recent Or upcoming PhD
or MD/PhD degree an d a strong record of peer-reviewed publications with at
least one first-author manuscript (IF>5), is essential. Ideal
candidates should have experience working in two Or more of the following
areas: 1) stem cell biology, 2) cardiovascular research, 3)
transcriptomics/proteomics/metabolomics, 4) cellular metabolism, 5) animal
models of cardiac disease, 6) genome editing techniques, an d 7) epigenetics/RNA
biology.
